With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Daryl Francis LaClair, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on March 18, 2026. Daryl departed this world at Prince William Hospital in the comforting presence of his devoted family. He was 71 years old.
Born on October 14, 1954, in Massena, New York, Daryl was the cherished son of Shirley McCormick and the late Francis LaClair. He was also predeceased by his stepfather, Donnie McCormick Sr., whose guidance shaped much of his early life. Daryl's upbringing in a tight-knit community laid the foundation for the compassionate and resilient man he would become.
Daryl proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1975, where he demonstrated courage and dedication that would define his character throughout his life. Following his military service, Daryl embarked on a distinguished career in law enforcement, culminating as a Captain with the Arlington County Sheriff's Office. His unwavering commitment to justice and safety was evident when he bravely responded in the line of duty, an incident that would eventually lead to his retirement in 1990.
After retiring from the force, Daryl found joy and purpose in a variety of roles at Manassas Airport, where he continued to forge meaningful connections and leave a lasting impact on those around him. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to pursue several business ventures, each infused with his determination and optimism, always emerging triumphant.
In 1981, Daryl married the love of his life, Gina LaClair. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Their 45-year marriage was a testament to their unwavering devotion. Partners in life and wanderlust, Daryl and Gina delighted in traveling, particularly enjoying numerous cruises that allowed them to explore the world hand in hand.
Daryl was a doting father to his son, Matthew LaClair, and daughter, Katrina LaClair, both of whom inherited his quick wit and generous spirit. As a grandfather to three cherished grandchildren, Daryl's warmth and humor brought light to their lives, leaving them with memories that will forever echo his love.
Known for his willingness to lend a hand and his ever-ready humor, Daryl's strength, care, and love touched all who knew him. His ability to share a joke or offer a comforting word was a gift that endeared him to many, and he will be remembered for the joy he brought to the lives he touched.
