It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daryl Duken, who departed this life on September 20, 2026, at the age of 46. Daryl was born on June 8, 1980, in Columbus, where he spent much of his life surrounded by family and friends. Daryl was a beloved son to his parents, Martha and Johnathan Duken. He was predeceased by his cherished grandparents, Henry and Maria Duken, whose memories he held dear. Daryl's life was enriched by the companionship of his close friends Harold Lazlow, Dale Derickson, Kyle Smuttons, and Earl Smith, who stood by him through thick and thin. Though life presented Daryl with many challenges, including health struggles with liver failure, diabetes, and lung cancer, he faced each day with a resilient spirit. His journey through various jobs, including his role as a Product Manager at Circuit City, demonstrated his determination to find his place in the world, despite the setbacks he encountered at Sprint and McDonald's. Daryl found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid football fan, and his love for the game was often accompanied by enjoying soda and junk food. His unique sense of humor and candid nature made him memorable to those who knew him well, even as he wrestled with life's difficulties. Above all, Daryl will be remembered for his authenticity and the warmth he shared with those around him, even when smiles were rare. His family has expressed a heartfelt wish for Daryl to find happiness and peace beyond this life, as they mourn the loss of their beloved son. In accordance with Daryl’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family requests that those who wish to honor Daryl's memory do so in their own personal way, remembering the spirit of the man who touched their lives in his own distinctive manner. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Daryl Duken. They extend their deepest gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time. May Daryl rest in peace, knowing he was loved and remembered by those who knew him.
