Dary Ray AdwayƆ, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at his home in Los Angeles on September 7, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on June 22, 1960, in Altheimer, Arkansas, Dary was the cherished son of Willie Lewis Adway Sr. and Molissie Alexander Adway, who preceded him in death. He is also reunited with his beloved wife, Carole Inez Grice Adway, his brother Stevie Adway, and his parents. Dary spent his formative years in Los Angeles, where he attended Samuel Gompers Middle School and Alain Locke High School. He met the love of his life, Carole, and they married on November 23, 2006. Together, they shared 18 wonderful years filled with love and laughter. A dedicated and reliable employee, Dary worked for over 20 years as a lumber associate at Anawalt Lumber Co. His colleagues knew him for his punctuality and dependability, and he was respected by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. Dary's passions extended beyond his career. He was an avid sports fan, a die-hard supporter of the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers. Known for his extensive collection of team gear, Dary's love for baseball began early in life, earning him numerous awards as a young player. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he shared this passion with his family and friends. With a personality as smooth as silk, Dary was often the life of the party. His sense of humor and ability to bring joy to those around him were unmatched. Whether he was showing off his dance moves with a mean cha-cha or crip walking, Dary's presence was always felt and appreciated. He embodied a spirit of laughter and lightheartedness that touched everyone he met. Family was Dary's greatest pride and joy. He instilled in his son, Dary Ray Adway Jr., and his grandson, Legend, the importance of putting family first—a motto he lived by and cherished deeply. He is survived by his son, Dary Jr. (Timeka), and his treasured grandchildren, Legend, Dorian, Maya, and Mckensie. Dary also leaves behind his siblings, Willie Jr. (Rhonda), Paul (Leslie), Brenda, and Selena, along with numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephew, and grand-nieces, including Kris Sr. (Sherri), Reggie (Kenise), Chase, Cherisse, Jasmine, Jordan, Tinaya, Kris Jr., Brianna, Kassandra, Chelsea, Rowan, Riley, Paityn, and Sunday. His extended family and a host of cousins and friends will forever cherish his memory. A celebration of Dary's life will take place on October 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Angelus Funeral Home, located at 3875 Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90008. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dary's honor to a charity of your choice. Dary Ray AdwayƆ's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. His love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family will remain a guiding light for generations to come.
