It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Darryl Anthony Jones, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who departed this world on April 13, 2026, at the age of 70. Darryl was born on November 7, 1955, in the vibrant city of San Francisco, California, to his loving parents, Goree and Vernell Jones. Though his journey was marked by challenges, including a stroke in 2017, Darryl's spirit remained unyielding, a testament to his enduring strength and resilience.
Darryl was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Goree and Vernell Jones; his devoted Aunt Carmen and Uncle Normal, who helped raise him with love; his oldest brother, Ronald Goree Jones; and his grandparents, Alexander and Naomi Jones, and Walter and Hattie Mae Whitman. He was also predeceased by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who were integral parts of his life.
Darryl's legacy is lovingly carried forward by his daughter, DeShauna Marie Jones, who was the light of his life and his greatest pride. He is also survived by his sister, Valerie Bernadette Jones, and his brother, Anthony Lyle Jones, who shared in the joys and challenges of life with Darryl. He leaves behind three treasured grandchildren, who were the source of his boundless joy and affection.
Darryl spent five dedicated years as a bus driver for AC Transit, where he was known for his warm smile and unwavering commitment to his passengers. Later, he continued his professional journey with the Xerox Corporation, where his hard work and diligence earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of his professional life, Darryl was a man of diverse passions. He was a DJ at heart, and his love for music was infectious, bringing joy to all who had the pleasure of dancing to his tunes. A devoted sports enthusiast, he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, whether on the football field, the baseball diamond, or the basketball court.
In honoring Darryl's memory, the family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated doctors and staff of Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation. Their compassionate care and unwavering support during his time of need brought comfort to Darryl and his loved ones.
Darryl Anthony Jones will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Darryl's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable life of a man who touched so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Darryl's memory, to continue his legacy of giving and kindness.
