It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Darrion Smith, who left this world on July 17, 2026, at the age of 34 after bravely battling an illness. Darrion was born on March 15, 1992, in Illinois, to loving parents Antoine Smith and Ballerie Johnson, both of whom predeceased him.
Darrion was a cherished brother, leaving behind his siblings who will deeply feel his absence. He also shared a special bond with his girlfriend, who stood by his side through life's many ups and downs. Though he did not have children, Darrion's legacy of kindness and humor touched countless hearts.
Darrion was a proud graduate of Thorton High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and nurtured a love for learning. He found fulfillment in his work at a local warehouse, where he was known for his dedication and camaraderie with colleagues. Outside of work, Darrion's passions were vibrant and diverse. He was an avid basketball player, often found on the court showcasing his talent and teamwork. In his downtime, he delighted in making music in his basement, a creative outlet that brought joy to both himself and those around him.
Those who knew Darrion will remember him most for his infectious sense of humor and his extraordinarily big heart. He had an innate ability to lift the spirits of everyone he encountered, always caring deeply for others and offering a helping hand whenever needed.
A celebration of Darrion's life will be held on July 30, 2026, at 1:15 PM at the Living Word Christian Center, located at 495 North Commons Drive. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable life he lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Darrion's memory to the American Heart Association, a cause that was dear to him.
Darrion Smith's legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing he made the world a better place through his presence.
