March 15, 1962 — September 14, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Darrell William John Emby, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, on September 14, 2026, at his residence. Born on March 15, 1962, in London, Ontario, Canada, Darrell was a beacon of warmth and kindness, a man whose presence brought joy to all who knew him. Darrell was the beloved son of the late Violet (Emby) and Norman H. Ford. He was predeceased by his brother, Norman W. Ford, and his grandparents, Ruth Emby Jefferies, John (Jack) Jefferies, and Victor Emby. He is also reunited with his dear aunt, Carole Hammond, and uncles, Robert Eastwood and Ted Hammond. Left to cherish his memory are his loving siblings, Steven (Cheryl) Ford, Katherine Ford (Richard), and Patricia (Adam) Cook. His only surviving aunt Vera (Vicky) Eastwood. Darrell was a devoted uncle and godfather to Justine Ford and a proud uncle to Miranda (Patrick) Hill. His legacy of love and laughter continues through his great-nephews and nieces: Damian, Amelia, Elijah, and Violet, who were the light of his life. Darrell was a passionate sports enthusiast, dedicating much of his time to cheering for his favorite teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs which sadly he passed before seeing them win a Stanley Cup and the Toronto Blue Jays. His passion for sports extended beyond spectating; he had a thirst for sports memorabilia, a hobby that brought him immense joy and provided an actual connection to his cherished teams. Darrell also had an eye for photography, capturing moments that spoke to his love of life and the world around him. His early years were spent on the family’s farm homestead, where he worked tirelessly alongside his grandparents, learning the value of hard work and community. Helping with selling the crop at the covent garden market, Darrell cultivated relationships that lasted a lifetime and served as a testament to his character. In honouring Darrell's generous spirit and love for children, donations in his memory can be made to Ronald McDonald House and Jumpstart for Kids, organizations close to his heart. Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate the vibrant and impactful life that Darrell lived. His warmth, humour, and unwavering dedication to family and friends will forever be remembered and cherished. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before him.
