Darrell Wayne Burgess

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Darrell Wayne Burgess on September 12, 2026. Born on April 15, 1973, in the serene town of Marion, South Carolina, Darrell was a cherished son, brother, fiancé, and friend. Darrell was the beloved son of the late Deloris Burgess and Mitchell Lee Bacote. He was predeceased by his treasured sister, the late Sarah (Missy) McCummings, and Hazel McCummings Cox. He leaves behind his devoted fiancé and best friend, Marlin Nobles, who shared many beautiful years in a loving partnership. Darrell's memory will forever be cherished by his siblings: Enoch Burgess, Ceeon Bacote, Reginald Bacote, and Dr. Latasha Bacote Owens (Diron), as well as his "Bonus Sis," Chastity Legette-McRae (Lavalton). A proud graduate of Marion High School's class of 1992, Darrell was a diligent worker who dedicated many years to So-Packo Inc. in Mullins, SC, and Perdue Inc. in Dillon, SC. Yet, his heart always led him back to "Hazel Place," the cherished family business where he felt most at home. Darrell was a man of faith and a valued member of the St. John AME community. His love for fishing was widely known, and it was a pastime that brought him immeasurable joy and peace. A celebration of Darrell's life will be held on September 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel, located at 612 S Main St, Marion, SC 29571. Friends and family will gather to honor and remember the warmth, love, and laughter that Darrell brought into their lives. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Darrell's memory may do so by making donations to a charity of their choice. Darrell leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
