Darrell Sanford, a treasured soul whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met, passed away peacefully at his home on July 8, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on March 8, 1968, in Jacksonville, Florida, Darrell was a beacon of love and strength to his family and friends throughout his life. Darrell was the beloved son of Isaac Sanford and Brenda Kittles Sanford, both of whom predeceased him, along with his cherished grandmother, Mercedes Sinclair. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Isaac Sanford Jr., and his uncles, Martin and Cornelius Kittles, Marcellus Sinclair, and his aunts, Vera and Louis Sanford. Despite the profound loss of these family members, Darrell's spirit shone brightly, buoyed by the love and support of those who survived him. A proud graduate of Jean Ribault High School in 1986, Darrell excelled both academically and athletically. He was an integral part of the school's football and basketball teams, served diligently in the Marine JROTC, and shared his vocal talents with the chorus. His prowess on the field earned him a spot as a redshirt freshman for the Florida A&M football team, where he attended for three semesters. Darrell's tenacity and dedication were evident in every endeavor he undertook. Darrell's life was a testament to the power of family and connection. His daughter, Sydney Elizabeth Sanford, and his three adored grandchildren were the lights of his life. He was a loving brother to Michael D. Sanford, Christina Edwards, and Bernedetta Dixon, and a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews. His uncles, Acosta and Thaddeus Kittles, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, will carry his memory forward with love and admiration. Known for his compassionate nature and unwavering support, Darrell was a loving brother and uncle who always placed family first. His legacy is one of love, resilience, and community—a true testament to the life he led and the values he instilled in those around him.
