Darrell Hollar

September 5, 1945 — July 23, 2026

Darrell Hollar, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 23, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on September 5, 1945, in Lima, Ohio, Darrell was the cherished son of the late Virgil and Carrol Hollar. His life's journey was marked by dedication, love, and a passion for family and community. Darrell grew up with a strong sense of family values and a love for sports. He graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1968, where his talent and dedication to baseball and softball began to take root. Shortly after, he served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1970, fighting bravely in Vietnam. His service to his country was a testament to his strength and commitment. In 1987, Darrell married the love of his life, Pamela Agner, from Leipsic. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and happiness over their 39 years of marriage. Darrell and Pam were blessed with three wonderful children: Brent, Chad, and Jamie, who were his pride and joy. He was also a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren, who brought endless smiles and joy to his life. Professionally, Darrell dedicated 36 years to the Ford Motor Company, where his hard work and integrity were evident in everything he did. His colleagues remember him for his calm demeanor and the way he could lighten the mood with his uniquely corny jokes. Beyond his career, Darrell was an extraordinary athlete, known for his remarkable skills in baseball and softball. He played on numerous teams throughout his career and was recognized for his contributions to the sport with an induction into the ASA Softball Hall of Fame in 2005. His passion for the game was matched only by his love for his family and friends. Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Pamela; their three children, Brent, Chad, and Jamie Hollar; two brothers, Terry and Glen; a sister, Linda; and six adored grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Virgil and Carrol, and his nephews, Brad and Jimmy. Darrell's legacy of kindness, strength, and love will be celebrated at a service on July 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, located at 1170 Shawnee Road, Lima, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched so many lives with his gentle spirit and unwavering love.
