It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darrell Allen Haber, who departed this world peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 73. Darrell was surrounded by love at the Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he spent his final days in the care of dedicated professionals and the embrace of his beloved family. Born on August 30, 1952, in the quaint town of Rushville, Illinois, Darrell's life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and the deep-rooted love he had for his family and community. The son of Allen Thomas and Barbara June Haber, Darrell was raised with a strong work ethic and a passion for the simple joys of life. He carried with him the values and traditions instilled by his parents throughout his life's journey. Darrell was a man of the land, with a profound love for farming and caring for his livestock. His dedication to farming was not merely an occupation but a calling that connected him to the earth and the rhythms of nature. Those who knew him will fondly recall the sparkle in his eye when he spoke of his farm, a place that was not just his livelihood but his sanctuary. A devoted husband, Darrell shared a life of love and companionship with his cherished wife, Ruth Ann Haber. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Darrell was a proud father to his three children: Stacy Haber and his wife Amy of Arlington Heights, IL; Will Haber and his husband Anthony of Toledo, OH; and Carrie Lemons and her husband Jeremy of Rushville, IL. His children were his pride and joy, each of them carrying forward his legacy of integrity and kindness. Darrell was blessed with four grandchildren who adored their grandpa, cherishing the time spent on the farm, listening to his stories, and learning life’s lessons from his gentle guidance. His legacy will live on through them, in their hearts and in their actions. He is predeceased by his parents, Allen and Barbara Haber, his beloved sister Sheryl Schnepper, and his dear brothers-in-law Philip Schaffer and David Schnepper. Their memories and the bonds they shared will forever be cherished. Darrell’s departure leaves a profound void in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His generosity, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and dedication that his family will carry forward.
