Born on January 16, 1956, to Defera Cargile and Freddie Miller, Darnnera was a beacon of light and love, cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Darnnera was a product of the vibrant Detroit Public Schools, where he first discovered his insatiable love for music. His youth was filled with the diverse sounds of jazz and funk, crafting a soundtrack that would accompany him through life's many adventures. Music was more than just a hobby for Darnnera; it was a lifelong passion that he shared with all who crossed his path.
At the age of 19, Darnnera answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the US Navy. From 1975 until 1979, he served with honor and distinction, embodying the values of courage and commitment. His time in the Navy instilled in him a love for travel and exploration, a theme that would remain constant throughout his life.
Darnnera was known for his adventurous spirit and deep interest in religion, qualities that led him to live a life full of rich experiences across the globe. His non-conventional lifestyle took him from the sun-drenched coasts of California to the serene landscapes of Rhode Island, the vibrant culture of Belize, the deserts of Phoenix, the evergreen beauty of Washington, and even the exotic allure of Thailand. Each place he visited left an indelible mark on his soul, and he, in turn, left his mark on the people he met along the way.
In his personal life, Darnnera was blessed with a loving family. He is survived by his devoted son, Raphael Miller, and his cherished siblings, Nyobe Miller, Joshua Miller, and Josiah Miller. Darnnera was a proud grandfather to seven delightful grandchildren who brought immense joy and pride to his days. Family was the cornerstone of Darnnera's life, and he dedicated himself to nurturing these relationships with unwavering love and support.
For 25 years, Darnnera shared his life with his beloved partner, Carolyn Chan, creating a beautiful tapestry of memories and experiences. He was previously married to Carrie Trupiano, with whom he shared many cherished moments.
Darnnera's parents, Defera and Freddie Miller, preceded him in death, and he now joins them in eternal peace. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the legacy of his adventurous spirit, love of travel, and passion for music will continue to inspire all who knew him.
