January 16, 1956 — December 22, 2025

Darnnera Jerome Miller, a father, grandfather, partner, friend, passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on January 16, 1956, to Freddie and Defera Miller, Donnie was a beacon of light and love in a family of siblings, aunts uncles, and cousins. Donnie was a product of the vibrant Detroit Public Schools. He played trumpet in school and football with the Westside Cubs. His youth was filled with the sounds of Motown, jazz and funk, crafting a soundtrack that would accompany him through life’s adventures; that he'd share with others who crossed his path. At the age of 19, Darnnera enlisted in the US Navy. From 1975 until 1979, he served with honor and distinction, courage and commitment. His time in the Navy instilled in him a love for travel and exploration, a theme that would remain constant throughout his life. He married Carrie Trupiano and they had a son, Raphael. Abe shared his life with Carolyn Chan for 24 years. They had three children, Nyobe, Jeshua, and Josiah, creating a beautiful tapestry of memories and experiences. Known for his adventurous spirit and deep interest in religion was a quest that led Donnie (aka Abe) to live a life full of rich experiences across the globe. He became a fitness enthusiast incorporating proper diet and exercise in his routine. Abe led a non-conventional lifestyle that took him from the sundrenched coasts of California to the serene landscapes of Rhode Island, the vibrant culture of Belize, to the deserts of Phoenix, the evergreen beauty of Washington and even the exotic allure of Thailand. Each place he lived left an indelible mark on his soul, and he, left his mark on the people he met along the way. Donnie's parents preceded him in death and he now joins them in eternal peace. His physical presence will be deeply missed by his children, 7 grand children, 2 siblings, 2special aunts, and many cousins and friends. The legacy of his adventurous spirit, search for God’s truth, love of travel and passion for music will continue to resonate and inspire others. Darnnera Jerome Miller touched the lives of many, and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace. Thanks to everyone for your generous acts of love and kindness.
