Born on May 20, 1985, in South Bend, Indiana, Darnell was a beacon of light and warmth to all who knew him. He was the cherished son of the late Roger Allen Ballard Sr. and Missy Ann Walters. Darnell was predeceased by his father and his beloved grandmother, Margaret Jean Ballard, whose love and guidance played an integral role in shaping the compassionate and generous spirit that Darnell carried throughout his life. Darnell's life was filled with love and laughter, especially within his family. He was a devoted husband to Michelle Ballard, with whom he shared eight wonderful years, three of which they spent as a married couple. Their love was an inspiring testament to partnership and mutual respect. Together, they were blessed with a son, Barnell Ballard Jr., who was the pride and joy of Darnell's life. He is survived by his loving siblings, Jennifer (Aldonis) Esther, Rakeesha Ballard, Shaneka Ballard, Roger (Reina) Ballard, Roderick Ballard, Marvin Walters, and China Walters. Each sibling held a special place in Darnell’s heart, and their bond was one of unwavering support and affection. Darnell graduated from Memorial High School, where he not only excelled academically but also formed lifelong friendships. His education was a foundation that he built upon, constantly seeking knowledge and new experiences. He was a man of many talents and interests, always eager to learn and grow. Though no public ceremony will be held, Darnell's life will be celebrated in a private funeral service, honoring his memory in a way that reflects the personal and intimate connections he held dear. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of their choice, continuing Darnell's legacy of kindness and generosity. Darnell Ballard will be remembered as a gentle soul whose smile and laughter could light up a room.
