Darlene Jung Tabor

May 10, 1950 — February 25, 2006

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Darlene Jung Tabor, who peacefully departed from this world on February 25, 2006, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Born on May 10, 1950, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Darlene was the cherished daughter of Dolores and Joseph Oliveri, both of whom she now joins in eternal rest along with her beloved son, Jason Jung. Darlene's journey through life was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She is survived by her loving husband and partner of over 25 years, Harold Tabor, with whom she built a life rich in love and laughter. Together, they nurtured and raised their children, finding joy in the simple pleasures of family life. Her surviving son, Ron Jung, and his wife, Erin, were a continual source of pride and joy, as were her treasured grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy (Emily), and Ethan, who were the very center of her universe. As a sister, Darlene shared a special bond with her siblings, Joseph Oliveri (Cindy) and Maurice Bersuder (Lisa), and she lovingly remembers her late brother, Randy Bersuda. Her extended family included a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and loved ones, each of whom will forever hold her dear in their hearts. Darlene's warmth and kindness were felt by many, including her nieces Tanya Sosa (Jose) and Gabrielle Marcantel (Brennen), to whom she was both an aunt and a beloved Nanny. Darlene's professional life was one of dedication and service. She worked as a claim representative for Travelers for Casualty and Marine Claims, where she formed lifelong friendships and played a pivotal role in mentoring countless individuals. Her commitment to her community was evident in her leadership roles as past president of both the Woodlake Booster Club and the Woodlake South Civic Association, where she and Harold shared many happy years supporting and coaching local children. Beyond her professional and community contributions, Darlene was an avid LSU Tiger fan, a passion she shared with family and friends. Her recent trip to Jacksonville to watch the baseball team play was a testament to her spirited love for life. The magic of Christmas was another of Darlene's great loves. Alongside Mr. Lou, she delighted in creating elaborate holiday displays that brought joy to visitors of all ages, a legacy she lovingly passed down to her grandchildren. Darlene's compassion extended beyond human connections to her deep love for Boston Terrier dogs. Her home was often a sanctuary for these beloved animals, including her adored Trooper, and she was actively involved in rescue efforts, finding homes for dogs in need. A memorial service to honor Darlene's remarkable life will be held on March 14, 2026, at Our Lady of Divine Providence, 8617 W. Metairie Avenue, Metairie, Louisiana. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the medical team at Ochsner Medical Center, particularly to nurse Kent, whose kindness and compassion provided comfort during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Darlene's memory to a local animal rescue organization, a cause she held dear to her heart. Darlene's radiant spirit and boundless love will forever be remembered, cherished, and celebrated by all who were fortunate to know her.
