In Loving Memory

Daphne Skrine
May 13, 1957 — October 5, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Daphne Skrine, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, who left this world on October 5, 2026. Daphne graced us with her presence on May 13, 1957, born to Mr. Eddie Hudson and Leila Rucker Hudson. Her journey touched many lives and left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Daphne was raised in a warm and loving family, growing up alongside her cherished sister, Mrs. Catherine Stokes Johnson, and her dear brother, Mr. Robert Lee Hudson, who predeceased her in 2014. She shared a profound bond with her spouse, Leslie Allen Skrine, who passed away in 2018, and together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. Daphne was also deeply loved by her brother-in-law, the late Mr. Glover Johnson, her in-laws, and her aunts, Mrs. Dora Rucker Stafford and Mrs. Jeanie Rucker Fowler.
An alumna of East Atlanta High School, Daphne later graduated from Maryville High School in Tennessee. After completing her education, she returned to Atlanta, Georgia, where she joyfully began her family life. Daphne was a vibrant soul, renowned for being "the life of the party." Her love for reading, cowboy movies, and dancing—whether with a partner or solo—infused her life with joy. Her relationship with God was central to her, and she found peace and inspiration in spiritual songs.
Daphne's life will be celebrated on October 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Rucker Funeral Home, located at 2199 Candler Rd, Decatur, Georgia 30032. The family welcomes all who wish to honor Daphne’s memory and celebrate the love and light she brought into the world.
In keeping with her generous spirit, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Daphne's memory to a charity close to your heart.
Daphne’s family would like to share a special message: “God has the final Say.” These words reflect her enduring faith and the grace with which she lived her life.
Daphne Skrine will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love, laughter, and warmth will continue to inspire all who knew her.
