In Loving Memory of Danny Sledell Boyd Sr.
It is with profound sadness and deep respect that we honor the life of Danny Sledell Boyd Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Danny was born on May 17, 1946, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Aaron and Jeri Boyd. He peacefully left this world at home, surrounded by the love of his daughters, on July 30, 2026.
Danny was a man of immense character and warmth, known for his remarkable sense of direction, both literally and figuratively, in the lives of those he touched. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter Linda, his brother Lionel, his nephew Tony, and his grandson Zack. He leaves behind a legacy through his devoted wife Jeri, whom he married on August 18, 1972, his four daughters, one son, 27 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory forward.
A proud graduate of Huntington High School and Marshall University, Danny forged a successful career as an architect. He spent 44 dedicated years working at Kentucky Steel, where his craftsmanship and dedication were widely admired. Danny also served his nation with honor in the Navy from 1973 to 1983, a testament to his unwavering commitment to service.
Danny was an active and longtime member of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, where his faith and community spirit shone brightly. An avid fisherman, he found joy and solace on the water, particularly when accompanied by his grandchildren, with whom he shared countless cherished moments.
The Boyd family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all who have offered their support during this difficult time. A private funeral ceremony will be held in accordance with Danny's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity of your choosing, honoring Danny's generous spirit and love for helping others.
Danny Sledell Boyd Sr. will be dearly missed, but his enduring legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will remain forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
