Danny Ray Shaw

August 22, 1951 — June 27, 2026

Danny Ray Shaw, a man of many stories and a heart as vast as the Tennessee skies he was born under, passed away on June 27, 2026, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 22, 1951, to Lloyd and Jannie Shaw, Danny's journey began in the rolling hills of Tennessee, and though life took him far and wide, those roots were always a part of him. Danny's life was woven with the threads of friends, family, and adventure. He graduated from Portage High School in Portage, Indiana, before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. In his professional life, Danny wore many hats. He began his career at US Steel in Gary, Indiana, and briefly turned his mechanical skills to auto repair. However, it was painting that captured his passion and allowed him to express the vibrant colors of his spirit. He was also an avid fisherman and a tireless traveler, a true rolling stone in evey sense of the term who found joy in the journey as much as the destination. Danny's life was enriched by two marriages and a large, loving family. His first marriage to Linda McCabe blessed him with two wonderful daughters, Danielle and Jennifer. They briefly shared the joy of raising Linda's children from a previous marriage, Jerry, Tammy, and David. Later, Danny found love again with Sandra Miller, with whom he had two cherished children, Anthony and Nicole. He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Sandra Shaw, his parents Lloyd and Jannie Shaw, his brothers Glenn, Terry, and Lloyd (David) Shaw, his daughter Nicole Shaw, and his granddaughter Angela Whitaker. Danny is survived by his children Danielle (Timothy) Senovic, Jennifer (Robert) Carney, and Anthony Shaw; his stepchildren Jerry (Jennifer) Whitaker, Tammy (Sean) Nile, and David (Laurie) Whitaker; his grandsons Tyler Lello, Jacob Carney, Stephen Whitaker, and Michael Whitaker; and his granddaughters Amber (John) Giulgluano, Kayla Whitaker, and Brandi Jo Little. His legacy extends to his eight grandchildren. Danny's life was a tapestry of contrasts. To some, he was a loving and compassionate soul, while others knew him as strong-willed and stubborn. He was both selfless and, at times, the opposite. But to all, he was a man who lived fully and loved deeply. A private memorial ceremony will honor Danny's memory, respecting his family's wishes for an intimate farewell. The Shaw family extends a heartfelt thank you to Anthony, Danny's devoted son, who stood by his side through the darkest times, providing unwavering support and love. Danny Ray Shaw's journey on this earth has ended, but the memories and love he leaves behind will continue to live on in all who knew him.
