Danny Ray Gortney

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Danny Ray Gortney, who left this world peacefully at his home on May 7, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on March 28, 1957, in the vibrant city of Dallas, Texas, Danny was the cherished son of the late George and Clarice Gortney, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into the eternal embrace of peace. A proud Texan throughout his life, Danny's journey began at Dulles High School, where he laid the foundation for a life dedicated to hard work, love, and adventure. In those formative years, he cultivated a passion for freshwater fishing and hunting, pursuits that remained close to his heart and offered him tranquility and joy throughout his life. On July 23, 1994, Danny married the love of his life, Jennifer, beginning a beautiful chapter filled with love, laughter, and companionship. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Brook, married to Erik; Brian, married to Helena; and Jessica, each of whom brought immeasurable pride and happiness to Danny's life. Danny's legacy is further carried on by his brother, George Timothy, and sister-in-law, Vivian, who shared countless memories and adventures with him. He was the beloved grandfather to eight grandchildren: Kade, Kailyn, Gregory, Brayden, Peyton, Preston, Pierson, and Parker, each a precious light in his life. The laughter and joy of his grandchildren were among Danny's greatest treasures, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Danny will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his warm smile that could brighten the darkest of days, and his gentle spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew him. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel valued and appreciated, a testament to his genuine kindness and compassion. To honor and celebrate Danny's life, a service will be held at River Point Church, where family and friends will gather to reminisce, share stories, and find solace in the love and memories he leaves behind. As we say goodbye to a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Danny Ray Gortney's impact on this world was immense, and though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. As we cast our lines into the waters he so loved, we will remember him fondly and carry his memory with us, always.
