Danny passed away peacefully at East Jefferson General Hospital, enveloped in the love of his family and friends. Born in Leesville, Louisiana, on October 21, 1958, Danny was the embodiment of hard work, joy, and resilience. He graduated from Anacoco High School in 1976, and from a young age, he found his calling on the open road. Beginning his career as a truck driver at the age of 17, Danny spent over five decades behind the wheel, with more than 20 of those years dedicated to JB Hunt. His dedication and commitment were recognized when he received the prestigious Million Mile Safety Award. Danny's adventurous spirit also led him to work with KBR, hauling fuel for the military in Iraq—a testament to his bravery and willingness to step out of his comfort zone. Later, he continued his career closer to home with MobileBox, where he remained a respected and cherished colleague. Danny's life was defined by more than just his career. On June 26, 1977, he married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Louise Thompson. Together, they shared 49 beautiful years of marriage, raising their beloved son Shawn Thompson, and embracing life with dedication and joy. Danny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his grandchildren, Titan James Thompson, Odin Kendal Thompson, and Raylan Blake Leblanc. Family was at the heart of Danny's life. He was the cherished son-in-law who cared for his mother-in-law for over two decades, earning the affectionate title of "number one son-in-law." His extended family includes his brother-in-law William Worfel and his wife Tammy of Deridder, LA, Ronald Barnard of Bossier City, LA, Bertha Barnard of Shreveport, LA, Lilian Barnard of Lewisville, TX, and Lois Worfel of Ringgold, LA. Danny's personality was as vibrant as the lifted trucks and bright lights he adored. Despite advancing years, he never let go of his passion for trucks, often seen tinkering with the 428 lights on his favorite vehicle, which seemed to transform the night into day. His humor, marked by a cheeky smile and the occasional dirty joke, brought laughter and warmth to all who knew him. He found joy in simple pleasures, whether watching old western reruns with Gwendolyn or enjoying casino trips with his son, where luck often favored him. Known for his unwavering work ethic and readiness to lend a hand, Danny was a man you could depend on—always there with a smile and a helping hand. His presence will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will forever remain in our hearts.
