Danny Curtis Buckner

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Danny Curtis Buckner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on September 9, 2026, at the age of 84. Danny was born on July 24, 1942, in the close-knit community of Etowah, Tennessee, to his loving parents, Bradley Lee Buckner and Hattie Lee Aldridge Buckner. Danny's life was a testament to family values, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings Sharon Blocker, Virginia (Ginger) Runnels, Steve Buckner, and David Buckner, all of whom he cherished dearly. Danny is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 37 years, Beverly Buckner, with whom he shared countless beautiful moments and adventures. Their bond was as resilient as it was joyful, often found laughing with friends at their favorite spot, Quick Check, or tending to their home and garden. Together, they have a loving family that includes their children Kelly Cardoso, Guy Garland, Curtis Buckner, Justin Buckner, and Rebecca Williams, and their cherished grandchildren Connie Reed, Miles Meador, Natalie Buckner, Henley Lewis, Carson Buckner, Caden Buckner, Jacob Williams, and Benjamin Williams. Danny also leaves behind three great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy. A proud graduate of Van Alstyne High School, Danny dedicated 32 years of service as a lineman at Southwestern Bell. Beyond his professional achievements, Danny was deeply involved in his community, coaching and supporting his children in their sports endeavors. His presence was a constant encouragement at Van Alstyne sporting events, cheering for his children and grandchildren with boundless enthusiasm. Danny found great joy in traveling, creating cherished memories with his sister Sharon and his children at destinations like Yellowstone National Park, Myrtle Beach, and the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. A true Dallas Cowboys fan, he also delighted in card games and coffee with friends at Quick Check. Danny's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He was a man of patience and humor, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. As a father, he was a hero and role model, finding time to play and nurture his children despite his busy schedule. His dedication extended to his grandchildren, whom he helped raise with unwavering love. A celebration of Danny's life will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, 6pm at First Christian Church, 274 S. Waco St., Van Alstyne, TX 75495. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to Danny's generous spirit. The Buckner family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Guardian Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Danny over the years. Their support was invaluable, and their dedication did not go unnoticed. Danny Curtis Buckner's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
