In Loving Memory of Dannie Joe Eddings
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dannie Joe Eddings, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on November 19, 2021, at the age of 77, after a prolonged illness. Born on September 7, 1944, in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, Dannie's life was a testament to dedication, service, and compassion.
Dannie was the cherished son of James E. Eddings Sr. and Mattie Hewitt. He grew up surrounded by the love of his family, including his predeceased siblings, brothers Ralph, Ray, James Jr., and sister Mary Graham, whose memories he held dear.
He devoted 33 commendable years of his life as a respected member of the Metro Police Department, where his commitment to justice and public service was unwavering. Dannie's career was marked by his steadfast dedication to the safety and well-being of his community, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and those he served.
Outside of his professional life, Dannie found camaraderie and purpose in his involvement with the American Legion Post 45 in Greenbrier, Tennessee. His contributions to the organization were a reflection of his deep-seated patriotism and his desire to support fellow veterans and community members.
Dannie is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda J. Edwards, who stood by his side through life's triumphs and challenges. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared dreams. His daughter, Cynthia (Cindy), and son-in-law Sabin Pierce were the pride and joy of his life. As a grandfather, Dannie adored his grandchildren, Logan (Blake) and Ashley Pierce, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.
Known for his generous spirit and kind heart, Dannie was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His ability to touch lives with his warmth and sincerity was unparalleled, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we gather to celebrate Dannie's life, we are reminded of the profound impact he had on his family, friends, and community. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the legacy of love and service he leaves behind.
We invite all who knew Dannie to join us in honoring his life and legacy. A service will be held to commemorate his life, where stories of his kindness, dedication, and love for his family will be shared.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post 45, in memory of Dannie's service to his community and country.
Dannie Joe Eddings's life was a beacon of love and service, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace, enveloped in the love he so generously gave.
