It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Daniel Robert Collins, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, who left this world too soon on June 28, 2024, at the age of 33. Daniel's journey began on May 14, 1991, in the small town of Gratiot, Michigan, where he was born to his devoted parents, John and Mary (Tracy) Collins. He is now reunited with his loving grandparents, Timothy and Edna Collins, who predeceased him.
Daniel's life was a testament to love, dedication, and passion. He was a cherished member of the Gratiot community, known for his warm heart, infectious smile, and unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. As a dedicated high school science teacher, Daniel inspired countless young minds, instilling in them a curiosity for the natural world and a love for learning that would last a lifetime.
On May 21, 2012, Daniel married the love of his life, Sarah (Smith) Collins. Their union was a beautiful partnership filled with laughter, adventure, and deep affection. Together, they welcomed their son, Samuel Daniel Collins, who, at the tender age of 9, carries forward the legacy of his father's kindness and enthusiasm for life. Daniel's greatest joy was spending time with his beloved Sarah and Samuel, often exploring the scenic trails of Michigan on their bikes, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
A lifelong member of the Gratiot Methodist Church, Daniel's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He found comfort and strength in his community, and his presence was a source of light and support to those around him. His absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Daniel's battle with cancer was faced with immense courage and grace, a true reflection of his character. His strength and resilience were an inspiration to his family and friends, who rallied around him with love and support throughout his journey.
To celebrate Daniel's life and honor his memory, a service will be held on August 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gratiot Methodist Church, located at 1234 Main Street, Gratiot, MI. Family, friends, students, and community members are invited to join in remembering a life that touched so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Daniel's name, continuing his legacy of kindness and generosity.
