Daniel O'Sullivan
April 24, 1938 — June 12, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel O'Sullivan, who left this world on June 12, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on April 24, 1938, in the serene village of Coolinarne, Co. Cork, Ireland, Daniel was the cherished son of James and Ellen O'Sullivan. His peaceful departure took place at his beloved home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Daniel's life was a testament to the enduring values of love, dedication, and community. He was the devoted husband of the late Eileen Conroy O'Sullivan, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and warmth, nurturing and raising their two beloved children, James and Ellen. Daniel's love for his family was boundless, and he took immense pride and joy in his role as a father and later as a grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Abygael.
Preceded in death by his parents, his brother John, and sisters Anna and Noreen, Daniel is survived by his brother Seamus, his children James (Christine) and Ellen Mazzone (Anthony), and his grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love that extends to countless brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews who will forever remember his gentle spirit and kind heart.
For over thirty years, Daniel was a dedicated bus driver for Queens Surface, where he was known for his unwavering reliability and his friendly, welcoming demeanor. His passengers were more than just commuters; they were friends and neighbors, each touched by his genuine warmth and ever-present smile.
Outside of his work, Daniel's greatest joy was spending time with his family. Whether gathered around the dinner table or taking leisurely walks in the park, these moments were the ones he treasured most. His life was a tapestry of shared stories, laughter, and love, woven together with the threads of family and friendship.
A service to honor Daniel's life will be held on June 17, 2026, at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to United Hospice of Rockland, an organization that provided remarkable care and comfort to Daniel and his family during his final days.
Though our hearts ache with his passing, we find solace in knowing that Daniel's spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the love he shared. He leaves us with a legacy of kindness and humanity, reminding us all to cherish each moment and love deeply. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Eileen and all those who went before him.
