In Loving Memory

Daniel Joseph Hines
March 23, 1954 — April 29, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Joseph Hines, affectionately known as Danny, who left this world on April 29, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on March 23, 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska, Danny's journey through life was one marked by service, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
Danny was the cherished son of Paul and Maria Gusman, both of whom predeceased him. Though Danny never married or had children of his own, he was blessed with a large and loving family, including his brothers and sisters: Terry, Rodriguez, Jesse, and Dottie Gusman, as well as Geneva and Stephen Gusman, and Aaron and Adam Browning. His family and friends were his anchors, and he treasured the moments spent with each of them.
A proud graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Danny joined the United States Army in 1972. He bravely served his country in Vietnam, completing his military career in 1976. This period of service was a defining chapter in Danny's life, instilling values of honor, resilience, and camaraderie that he carried with him always.
Professionally, Danny was a skilled mechanic and carpenter, talents that he shared generously throughout his life. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Tyson, where his colleagues admired his work ethic and dedication. He was also a loyal member of the Eagles Lodge for over 20 years, finding fellowship and community among its members.
Danny's passion for restoring cars was rivaled only by his love for working with children. As a devoted volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, he was instrumental in guiding young boys on their journey to becoming responsible, compassionate men. His spirit of mentorship and generosity left an indelible mark on the many lives he touched.
Those fortunate enough to be within Danny's close circle of friends knew him as a man with a heart as vast as his sense of humor was unique. His laughter, often tinged with a delightful twist of wit, became a cherished trait among those who knew him best. Danny's loyalty and willingness to go above and beyond for his friends made him a steadfast companion and a source of unwavering support.
Though his circle was not vast, it was rich with genuine connections and meaningful relationships. His friends and family will forever remember the joy he brought to their lives and the countless ways he enriched their days.
In accordance with Danny's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor his life. In these moments of reflection, his family takes solace in the love and memories shared, hopeful that Danny has found the peace he sought in recent years.
Danny will be missed by many for the light he brought to the world during his time with us. Though taken from us too soon, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. May we all find comfort in knowing that he has touched the lives of many and will be remembered with love and gratitude.
Rest in peace, dear Danny. Your legacy of kindness and laughter will endure, and you will forever remain in our hearts.
