It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Daniel H. West, who departed this world on March 21, 2026, at the age of 78. Dan passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends in Searcy, Arkansas, the town that bore witness to his remarkable journey.
Born on June 12, 1947, to Hardy and Jean West, Dan was a beacon of kindness and resilience, qualities that were instilled in him by his adoring parents. He grew up in Searcy, alongside his brothers, Gary and Dwight, forging bonds of brotherhood that withstood the test of time. Though his brother Gary and his beloved parents preceded him in death, their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms, reuniting the family once more.
Dan's life was one of service and dedication. After graduating from high school, he answered the call of duty and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. His time in service was a testament to his unwavering commitment to protecting and uplifting others, values that defined his entire life.
Throughout his career, Dan was known as a diligent worker, respected by colleagues and friends alike for his integrity and dedication. His work was more than a means of livelihood; it was an extension of his character, demonstrating his steadfastness and the pride he took in every task.
Dan cherished his family deeply. He leaves behind his brother Dwight West and his wife Betty, who stood by him with unwavering support. His memory will forever be held dear by his nephews Chris and Michael West, sister-in-law Tina West, niece Stephanie Michael and her husband Marty, and their sons Weston and Warner Michael. His sister Kathy Fly and her husband JD, along with nephew Daniel Hill, carry forward his legacy of love and compassion. Dan was also blessed with the steadfast friendship and care of his cousins John Simmons and Phillip Maddox, along with Lori, and many other cousins who were constant sources of support and joy in his life.
In his final months, Dan was lovingly cared for by the dedicated staff at Spring Creek and Arkansas Hospice. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to these compassionate caregivers who provided not just medical attention, but also kindness and dignity during Dan’s journey home.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Dan’s life, keeping with his wishes for a modest and intimate farewell. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Arkansas Hospice, ensuring that others may receive the same compassionate care that Dan did.
As we say goodbye to a beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, we are comforted by the knowledge that Dan’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. His life was a testament to the power of love, service, and resilience. While our world is dimmed by his absence, the memory of Dan H. West will forever shine brightly, guiding us with his unwavering spirit and enduring love.
