Daniel Francis Murphy, a man of extraordinary kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026, after a long illness. He was 87 years old. Dan, as he was affectionately known, was born on May 3, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Francis (Frank) and Marie Murphy. Dan's life was a testament to the power of perseverance and the strength of familial bonds. He graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School in 1956, and despite not attending college, he achieved the remarkable feat of becoming a Certified Public Accountant by passing the CPA exam through sheer determination and hard work. His career began at WEINLANDER, Fitzhugh, Bertolite, and Schirer in Bay City, Michigan, where he made significant contributions as a CPA. In 1982, seeking new horizons, he moved his beloved family to Scottsdale, Arizona, where he took on the role of comptroller for Pitre. Dan dedicated his life not only to his work but also to his community. He served on the church board at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church and contributed to the hospital and school boards, demonstrating his commitment to helping others. His involvement with the Elks Club, the Bay City Country Club, and, after moving to Arizona, the Arizona Country Club, reflected his love for connecting with others and building a sense of community. A passionate golfer, Dan participated in numerous tournaments, including senior pro-ams, where he showcased his skill and camaraderie. He also found joy in the tranquility of fishing and shared his love of cooking and grilling through lavish dinners with family and friends, creating cherished memories around the table. In 1960, Dan married the love of his life, Jacquelyn Niedzielski. Together, they built a loving home and a family that became the cornerstone of his existence. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 65 years, Jacquelyn, and their children: Mark (Rhonda), Cathy Moore (Michael), Paul (Renee), and Nancy Jimenez (Jamey). His legacy is further carried by his cherished grandchildren: Wyatt, Sara, Rex, DJ (Sarah-Grace), Johnathan, Taylor (Brenden), Joshua, Jacky, Clayton, and Nathan, and great-grandchildren Beckham, Lainey, and Theodore. Dan is also survived by his sister Donna Murphy, brother-in-law Herb Wells, and sister-in-law Germaine Niedzielski. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Marie Murphy, siblings Terry (wife Sharon) and Mary Denise Wells, and in-laws Clemence and Evelyn Niedzielski, along with brothers-in-law Robert Niedzielski (MaryAnn), Donald Niedzielski, and Maurice Niedzielski. A celebration of Dan's life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, located at 32648 N Cave Creek Rd, Cave Creek, AZ 85331. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dan's memory to the American Heart Association, an organization close to his heart. Dan's life was a shining example of what it means to live with purpose, love, and integrity. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him, leaving behind a world made better by his presence. May he rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and loved.
