Daniel "Dan" Spees

February 28, 1944 — April 27, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel "Dan" Spees, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Dan left this world peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 82, after bravely battling an extended illness. Born on February 28, 1944, in Massillon, Ohio, Dan's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. Dan was the beloved son of Howard and Jessie Spees, and though his family tree has seen some branches fall, he is now reunited with his father and siblings Lawrence Spees, Tina Spees, Jodi Spees, and Lori Liskey, who predeceased him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, carried on by his devoted wife, Karen, with whom he shared a remarkable 60-year marriage. Their union, begun in August 1965, was a testament to enduring love and partnership, blessed with two wonderful children, Kevin (Dawn) Spees and Michelle Spees. Dan was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. His time in the Marines instilled in him values that he carried throughout his life, and he remained a proud member of the Retired Leatherneck community. His professional life was spent with United Parcel Service, where he dedicated 35 years of service, known for his reliability and strong work ethic. A man of passion, Dan had a love for motorcycles that spanned many years. The freedom of the open road was a joy he relished, and he was often found sharing stories of his rides with family and friends. A true son of Massillon, Dan was an avid supporter of the Massillon Tigers, celebrating the community spirit and camaraderie that came with it. Dan's pride and joy were undoubtedly his family. He was a loving grandfather to Ashley Stout (Mitchell), Amanda & Anthony Hoskinson, Brittany Spees (Josh), and Morgan & Alan Feldpusch. His heart swelled with love and laughter when surrounded by his seven great-grandchildren, whose futures will be brighter for the light he shone into their lives. As we bid farewell to Dan, we remember him not for the void his absence creates, but for the warmth and love he infused into every life he touched. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the stories that will continue to be shared across generations. A celebration of Dan's life will be held at a date to be announced, where friends and family are invited to gather and honor the remarkable journey of a man who gave so much to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dan's memory to a charity of one's choice. Rest in peace, Dan. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, and you are loved beyond words.
