It is with heartfelt sorrow yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Daniel C. Olison, Jr., an Air Force Retired Master Sergeant, who departed this world peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on December 5, 1942, in Greenville, Alabama, Daniel was a beacon of strength, dedication, and love to all who knew him.
Daniel lived a life of service, both to his country and his community. He proudly served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of E-7, before transitioning to civilian life where he became a cherished part of the San Antonio community. For over 22 years, Daniel was a familiar and friendly face, serving as a driver for VIA Metropolitan Transit, where his meticulous safety record and dedication to getting his passengers home safely left an indelible mark. His early morning greetings and steadfast commitment to his work made him beloved among his colleagues and passengers alike.
Preceded in death by his loving parents, Daniel C. Olison Sr. and Arzell Olison, and his siblings William, Calvin, and Brenda Jean Olison Harris, Daniel carried forth the values imparted to him by his family — hard work, loyalty, and perseverance. These principles guided him throughout his life and were evident in the way he treated others and approached his responsibilities.
Daniel is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Annie V. Olison, whose companionship and love were the bedrock of his life. United in marriage on August 17, 1968, they shared a union marked by devotion, mutual respect, and enduring love. Together, they built a family that carries forward his legacy of love and dedication.
He is also survived by his son, Frederick Wayne (Erin) Olison, and his cherished grandson, Ahndre (Mary) Olison. He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Amiyah, and Malia Olison. Daniel’s wisdom and warmth will be forever remembered by his sisters, Aretta Olison Westry Pritchett, Minister Pearl Howard, and Monna Olison (Richard) McDaniel, and his devoted brother, Fredrick (Virginia) Olison. His extended family and many friends will continue to cherish the memories of his gentle spirit and the comfort his presence brought.
A service to honor and celebrate Daniel’s life will be held on May 4, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Castle Ridge Mortuary, located at 8008 Military Dr. W, San Antonio, TX 78227.
