Daniel W Baumann

Daniel "Dan" Baumann, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 14, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, Dan lived a life rich in love, service, and community. The son of William and Mary (Uhl) Baumann, Dan was raised with a strong sense of family and faith, values that guided him throughout his life. He was predeceased by his beloved parents and his brother, Tom Baumann. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Roberta "Bobbie" Baumann, who stood by his side through all of life's adventures. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. Dan leaves behind his sister, Mary (Ray) Gleich, and brother, Jim (Martha) Baumann. He was the proud father of Gary (Tammy) Baumann, Kristy (Garret) Burrell, and Robert (Christina) Baumann. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Brandon, Allyson, David, Logan, Daphne, and Jocelyn, and his great-grandchild, Austin (AJ). Dan was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. A graduate of St. Charles High School in Columbus, Dan furthered his education by earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Franklin University. His early years included honorable service in the Air National Guard from 1961 through 1964, where he displayed his dedication to his country. Dan's outgoing and welcoming personality created a rewarding professional life in real estate and mortgage services. As a top-level realtor at ACT Realty and HER Realty, and later as a loan originator for Priority Mortgage, Dan's career was driven by integrity and a commitment to helping others. Dan, having never met a stranger, formed many close friendships throughout his career. After many successful and fulfilling years, he retired fully in 2023. Dan was a man of deep faith, actively participating in the community of St. Philip's Church in Columbus before moving to Gahanna and later Lewis Center. His leadership and organizational skills were respected and valued in the faith community. He volunteered tirelessly, running the church festival finances and introducing bingo as a new source of parish income. In his later years, he served on the condominium board in Lewis Center, always eager to contribute and lead. An avid sports enthusiast, Dan was a passionate Ohio State fan and worked as a "Red Coat" for many years, enjoying a front-row view of the action. He also loved bowling, attending Reds games, and supporting the Browns with unwavering hope. Dan acquired the travel bug later in life. Not surprisingly, he left his mark on every adventure, gathering people and making new connections as was his unique gift. Those who knew Dan were subjected to bad jokes, unbridled laughter, nicknames, horrific DIY attemps, countless pranks, steadfast support and a forever friend. He was truly an exceptional person. A funeral Mass to honor Dan's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 333 N. State St., Westerville, OH 43082. Visitation with Dan's family will begin at 9:00 AM through 9:45. Lunch will be served immediately following the Mass. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Avalon of Lewis Center for their exceptional care and kindness. Dan Baumann will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his warmth, wit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
