In Loving Memory

Daniel A. DiVita
July 23, 1952 — July 25, 2026
Daniel A. DiVita, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the Preserve Memory Care facility in Fort Myers, Florida, at the age of 74. Born on July 23, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, Dan was the cherished son of John and Beverly DiVita. He was preceded in death by his father, John, but leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Dan was a man of many talents and passions, having graduated from Austin High School in 1974. He pursued higher education at Macomb Community College, earning an associate’s degree before continuing his studies at Control Data Institute. His professional journey led him to a fulfilling career as a computer analyst at Cadillac Gage Textron, Mount Clemens General Hospital, and General Dynamics. Dan's dedication and expertise in his field were matched by his quick wit and the genuine friendships he cultivated throughout his life.
In 1977, Dan married the love of his life, Gayle, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 48 years. Together, they built a loving home and raised two wonderful daughters, Angie DiVita Jolicoeur (married to Carl) and Melissa DiVita (partnered with Ralph Cihone). Dan's family was the center of his world, and he was a devoted husband, father, and brother to his siblings, John, David (Janiel), and Dana (Dr. Jim) Gramprie. He was also a beloved brother-in-law to Bob and Cindy Stephenson.
Dan was a man of vibrant interests, his zest for life evident in his love for golf, water sports, and days spent on his boat. He found joy in the open road on his ATV and motorcycle, and treasured the moments shared with family and friends at his cottage in Port Austin. Those who knew him will remember his infectious laughter and the warmth of his friendship.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer, in Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dan's memory to The Dublin Center, a support group for caregivers of those with dementia, located at 12511 World Plaza Ln., Fort Myers, FL 33907.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at The Preserve for their exceptional care and support for Dan during his time there. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
