With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved son, Dane Joseph Gotch, who left this world peacefully at home on April 3, 2026, just shy of his 18th birthday. Born on April 24, 2008, in Sioux City, Iowa, Dane graced the lives of those around him with his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to making the world a brighter place.
Dane was the cherished son of Bryan and Jessica Gotch, who feel eternally grateful for the joy and love he brought into their lives. Raised in the close-knit community of Newcastle, Nebraska, Dane attended Hartington-Newcastle Public School. There, he cultivated his passion for words and performance, achieving the esteemed title of State Champion in Speech and One Act on numerous occasions. Over the course of his academic career, Dane was awarded 14 state medals, a testament to his talent, hard work, and determination.
Beyond his academic and extracurricular achievements, Dane was a devoted member of St. Peter's Parish in Newcastle. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he lived by its values every day. He extended his dedication to service through his involvement with the Newcastle volunteer fire department, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Dane found solace and joy in the great outdoors, often spending his free time fishing or working on projects that involved building, fixing, and restoring old vehicles. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were his way of connecting with the world and finding peace within it.
Those who knew Dane will forever remember his infectious smile and his innate ability to uplift the spirits of everyone he encountered. His presence was a beacon of happiness, and he had an extraordinary gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Dane's compassionate nature led him to constantly seek ways to improve the lives of those around him, whether through small acts of kindness or grand gestures of generosity.
As we celebrate Dane's life, we hold onto the profound impact he made in his short time with us. His legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Parish in Newcastle, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Dane's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Dane’s memory to support youth programs in the community, ensuring his spirit of giving and joy continues to touch future generations.
Dane Joseph Gotch will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of a life well-lived and deeply loved. May he rest in eternal peace.
