Dana Marie Harris
July 17, 1984 — June 19, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of our beloved Dana Marie Harris, who departed this world on June 19, 2026, at the age of 41. Born on July 17, 1984, in Los Angeles, Dana was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her.
Dana was the cherished daughter of the late Linda Lewis and Dennis Harris, who undoubtedly welcomed her into eternal peace alongside her grandmother, Rosie Pittman, and her cousin, Pamela Walker. Her spirit and love continue to shine through her adored daughters, Haileigh and Haiden Pierce, who were her greatest pride and joy. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Denise Harris, and her brothers, Darnell Lucky, Deandrew Niles, and Dennis Harris. Dana leaves behind a circle of close friends—Monique Bacon, Sophia Thomas, Monet Wilson, and Teisha Black—who were more like family than friends.
Dana's educational journey was marked by determination and a passion for helping others. She graduated from Jordan High School in 2002 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in criminal justice from Talladega in 2006. Her thirst for knowledge and commitment to social justice led her to obtain a master's degree in social work from Cal State Long Beach.
Her career as a social worker was a testament to her unwavering dedication to serving her community. Dana worked as a case worker at Community Build and later with AHF as a social worker, before dedicating her efforts to the County of Los Angeles. Her work was not just a profession but a calling, where her compassion and dedication changed countless lives.
A devout member of the First Timothy Missionary Baptist Church, Dana found joy in her faith. She praised the Lord through dance with the Doves and sang her heart out in the choir, always eager to introduce the youth to the fellowship that brought her such peace and happiness.
Dana was known for her vibrant personality; she was a jokester and a goofball with a smile that could brighten the darkest room. She had a gift for making people laugh and a heart that was always open to those in need. Her love for life was evident in every loud conversation and every shopping trip to Ross, where she delighted in finding treasures. Above all, Dana cherished spending time with her daughters, creating memories filled with laughter and love.
As we remember Dana, we celebrate a life lived fully and joyfully, a life dedicated to the happiness and well-being of others. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.
A service to honor Dana's life will be held at First Timothy Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to organizations supporting social work and community development, causes that Dana held dear to her heart.
Dana Marie Harris will be dearly missed but forever remembered. Her spirit lives on in the laughter she inspired and the love she shared, a testament to a beautiful life well-lived.
