Dana J. Voight
October 20, 1960 — August 10, 2026
Dana J. Voight, a man whose warmth and generosity touched many lives, passed away on August 10, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on October 20, 1960, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Dana was the beloved son of the late Dean B. Voight and Carolyn (Lynn) Burns and step-father Vic. He was predeceased by his cherished grandparents, Chet and Irene Hathaway, whose influence helped shape the kind and loving man he became.
Dana leaves behind his devoted wife of twenty years, Jo Lene (Jo) Nehus Voight, with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter, joy, and countless adventures. Dana was the beloved brother of Steven (Susan) Voight, and cherished stepbrother to Chuck (Claire) Burns and Joseph (Terry) Burns. He was a proud and loving stepfather to Tim (Mindy) Rice and Joshua (Emilee) Rice, and an adoring grandfather to Trey, Mason, Isabella, and Noah Rice. Dana also leaves behind his father-in-law Roger Nehus, and sister-in-law, Joyce (Butchie) Heaton, a multitude of nephews and nieces, and countless friends who became family.
A man of many talents and passions, Dana attended Gibbs High School and Pinellas Technical College. He dedicated over 28 years to the engineering industry as a civil designer before following his heart to work with his hands as a maintenance supervisor for Shades Mountain Community Church and later as a construction administrator for Walden Home Improvement.
Dana was a proud member of Huffman United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, where he served as the trustee chair and head of the security team. A skilled CPR and first aid instructor, Dana shared his knowledge generously, teaching at various locations. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Gold Wing Road Rider Association, where he held numerous roles and spent countless hours volunteering.
His hobbies were as diverse as his talents—Dana could build or repair anything he set his mind to. He loved music, movies, and the open road on his motorcycle. Camping brought him joy, and in recent years, he found a new passion in antique tractors, a hobby he shared with his father-in-law, Roger.
Dana was known for his infectious sense of humor and his profound love of life. He was quick to lend a helping hand and was a generous, thoughtful, kind, and caring person who never met a stranger. If you were lucky enough to call Dana a friend, you knew you were truly loved.
