August 8, 1965 — July 6, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dana Nannette Tart, who departed this world on July 6, 2026, at the age of 60. Dana passed away peacefully at home in the loving embrace of her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her unwavering spirit and grace throughout her journey will forever serve as an inspiration to all who knew her. Dana was born on August 17, 1965, in Lumberton, North Carolina, to James and Sandra Musselwhite. From a young age, Dana displayed a zest for life and a warmth that drew people to her. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and an unyielding commitment to the well-being of others. Dana's academic journey began at Lumberton Senior High School, where she graduated with honors. She continued her education at Peace College, and later North Carolina State University in Raleigh, where she cultivated her passion for nutrition and wellness. For over 30 years, Dana dedicated her career to helping individuals achieve optimal health, working as a nutrition and wellness consultant. Her insightful guidance and compassionate approach touched countless lives, leaving a lasting legacy in the communities she served. On October 28, 1995, Dana married the love of her life, Dr. Phillip Tart. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two wonderful sons, Austin and Kendall, who were her pride and joy. Dana's family was the cornerstone of her happiness, and her love for them knew no bounds. A vibrant soul, Dana found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for four-legged friends, boating, snow skiing, working in her beautiful flowers and tropical plants, and Atlanta Braves Baseball. Her love for the outdoors was infectious, drawing friends and family to join her in creating cherished memories. Dana's life will be celebrated at a service on July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Scott's Hill Baptist Church, located at 185 Scott’s Hill Loop Road, Wilmington, NC, 28411. The service will be preceded by a visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Dana are warmly invited to attend and honor her remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dana’s loving memory to Wilmington Animal Centrix, a partner of Best Friends Animal Society, working together to save the lives of dogs and cats in communities like yours. This gesture reflects Dana's lifelong dedication to helping our community help animals in Southeastern North Carolina. Though Dana's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
