Dan Bales

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dan Bales, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on August 22, 2026, surrounded by family and love. Born on August 29, 1944, in Frederick, Oklahoma, Dan was the beloved son of Orey D. and Nadine Bales. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and unwavering devotion to family. Dan's early years were spent in Randlett, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Big Pasture High School, setting the foundation for a life filled with industriousness and passion. It was there that he met his life partner, Mary Self, whom he married on June 1, 1963. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years, nurturing a family and creating countless memories. Their love story was a beacon of commitment, and they were blessed with two sons. A man of many talents, Dan worked as a mechanic for much of his career, a profession that reflected his meticulous nature and love for problem-solving. He was also the owner and operator of a gasoline station for many years. Beyond his professional life, Dan possessed a zest for the outdoors. He found joy in farming with his family—an endeavor that connected him deeply to the land and his roots. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies for Dan, but passions that he pursued with enthusiasm, often sharing these adventures with those he loved. He was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved watching football games with family and friends. Dan's family was the heart of his existence. Though predeceased by his beloved wife Mary, son Joe, parents, and brothers Junior, O.D., Tom, Wes and Travis, his legacy continues through his surviving son Rodney, grandsons Jonathan, Joshua and Zachary (Avery), and his great-grandchildren. His sisters, Devoda Davis, Patricia Rue, and Lavada Hayes, also carry forward his memory, each sharing in the warmth and laughter that he brought into their lives. Dan Bales' life was a rich tapestry of love, resilience, and dedication. He leaves behind a profound impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His gentle spirit and kind heart will be missed dearly but remembered fondly by all who were touched by his presence.
