Dalya Matrice Jones

It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Dalya Jones, a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Dalya was born on June 5, 1968, in the vibrant city of Memphis, Tennessee. She departed from this world on September 9, 2026, after valiantly battling cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering faith. Dalya was the cherished daughter of Jarvis and Velmatine Goliday. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Brenda Hurt and Georgia Ann Moore, as well as her brother Jarius Goliday Jr. Her spirit and memory will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Michael Jamal Jones, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage since 1992, filled with love, partnership, and cherished memories. Dalya’s life was enriched by her children, Michael Jamal Jones Jr. and Michelle Janae Jones, who were her pride and joy. They carry forward her values of kindness, determination, and strength. She is also survived by her devoted siblings: sisters Pamela Ballentine, Latanya Goliday-Beckwith (Henry), and Jasmine Norfleet (Vernon); and brothers Larry Goliday (Beverly), Jerome Goliday (Gwen), Cedric Goliday (Felicia), and Harvey Goliday. Her presence will be missed by a host of family and friends who were touched by her warmth and compassion. A proud graduate of Jackson State University, Dalya completed her degree in 1992 and went on to dedicate 30 years of her career to the IRS, serving diligently as an Investigations Coordinator. Her colleagues and all who worked with her respected her professionalism and commitment to justice. A memorial service celebrating Dalya’s remarkable life will be held on September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Fredonia Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1250 Peabody Avenue, Tunica, MS 38676. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Dalya to join them in honoring her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to a charity of choice, a reflection of Dalya’s generous spirit and commitment to helping others. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Baptist Hospice Care for their exceptional compassion and professionalism during Dalya’s final days. Their care provided great comfort to Dalya and her family. Dalya’s laughter, wisdom, and love will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a world made better by her presence, and she will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered.
