It is with heavy hearts yet fond memories that the family of Dale Gibbs announces his peaceful passing on May 31, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on February 23, 1944, in the quaint town of Bumpus Mills, Tennessee, Dale was the cherished son of the late William Jefferson Gibbs and Katie Mae Meredith Gibbs. He was predeceased by his parents, who instilled in him a strong work ethic and a kind heart.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Curtis Gibbs, with whom he shared nearly 63 years of devoted marriage. Their love story began when they wed on October 25, 1963, a partnership that stood as a beacon of love and commitment, inspiring all who knew them.
A proud veteran, Dale served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to the Kentucky State Highway Department at the Trigg County Maintenance Office, where he worked diligently until his retirement. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated worker with an unwavering commitment to his community.
Dale was an active member of the Rocky Ridge Baptist Church, where he found spiritual fulfillment and community. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, providing him with strength and solace.
A man of simple pleasures, Dale found joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, often sharing these passions with friends and family. He also loved the challenge of a good golf game and spent many joyful hours on the green. Dale's love for westerns was well-known, and he could often be found watching these classic tales of heroism and adventure.
Above all, Dale's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children, Jeff Gibbs, Darrell Gibbs, Jeremy Gibbs, and Dee Dee Alexander, who will forever cherish the values he imparted and the love he bestowed upon them. His legacy lives on through his 11 grandchildren, including his granddaughter Britany Gibbs, and his 10 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense pride and happiness to his life.
He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Dawn Gibbs, and his brother, Jimmie Gibbs, who shared countless memories with him over the years.
Dale's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. His warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
