February 3, 1977 — May 31, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved Dale Curtis Wood, who departed from this world on May 31, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on February 3, 1977, Dale's life was a testament to the warmth and joy he brought to everyone he encountered. His journey, though seemingly brief, was filled with love, laughter, and an everlasting impact on all who knew him. Dale was a proud graduate of Helene Davis State School, where his infectious smile and kind spirit left an indelible mark on classmates and faculty alike. His pursuit of joy and learning continued at the Cameron Development Center, which became his second home since 2010. There, he formed deep connections with friends and caregivers, who admired his resilience and ability to find happiness in the smallest of things. Dale had a unique zest for life that was evident in the simple pleasures he adored. A frequent visitor to his favorite store, Dollar Tree, Dale would often be found delighting in the purchase of stickers, sticky notes, name tags, and calendars. These little treasures brought him immense joy and were a testament to his appreciation for the whimsical aspects of life. His imaginary pet mouse, George, was a beloved companion, and a cold Pepsi in hand was all he needed to complete his day. His personal qualities were as colorful and vibrant as his cherished collection of stickers. Dale was known for his welcoming smile and an uncanny ability to remember every person he met, ensuring that no one ever felt forgotten in his presence. His inventiveness in finding excuses to avoid work was legendary, a playful reminder of his spirited personality. Dale leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him close in their hearts. He is survived by his adoptive family: Shelby Terry, Kody Crom, and their sons, Jaxton and Jasper Crom, as well as his devoted mother, Lisa Morgan, and the ever-supportive Azalee Morgan. His absence leaves a profound void, yet his legacy of love endures in the memories of his family, friends, and caregivers. In honor of Dale's life and his unwavering spirit, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Cameron Development Center, where Dale found community and joy throughout his years. As we bid farewell to Dale, we hold onto the special message from his family: “Some people shine too brightly to ever be forgotten.” Indeed, Dale's light will continue to shine in our hearts, illuminating our paths with love and laughter, just as he did in life. May Dale Curtis Wood rest in peace, forever remembered for the boundless joy he shared and the love he left behind.
