July 11, 1956 — May 17, 2026

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Dale Alan Oates, who left this world on May 17, 2026, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on July 11, 1956, in Santa Clara, California, Dale's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and a fervent spirit that touched everyone he encountered. Dale was the beloved son of Richard and Darlene Oates, who together founded the cherished Oates Country Store. It was there, at the age of 20, that Dale began his lifelong career, starting as a cashier and growing to become the store's Owner and Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations. The store was a cornerstone of the community, known for its convenient lunches and as the only local gas station. Dale also extended his support to community endeavors, such as sponsoring a local race car driver, embodying his generous spirit. Dale's academic journey saw him graduate from Vacaville High School, where he was an active member of the school band, playing the saxophone. His love for music and community carried forward as he became a dedicated Moose Lodge member in both Vacaville and Dixon. In his personal life, Dale was blessed with a loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Traci Oates, whom he affectionately called "Baby Girl." Their love story began in the early '90s when Dale bought their home, culminating in marriage on June 15, 1998. Traci was not only his partner in life but his companion in adventure, as they traveled to their favorite destinations, from the serene beaches of Hawaii to the vibrant celebrations of Mardi Gras in Louisiana. Dale's interests were as varied as his travels; he cherished Renaissance fairs, and motorcycles, and was an avid target shooter. He also held a lifelong subscription to gun magazines, staying informed about his interests. Dale's legacy continues through his surviving family, including his two cherished stepchildren, Barbara "Skipper" and Curtis, and his four beloved grandchildren: Savannah, Troy, Lola, and Violet. His brothers, Rick and Randy, along with their families, will remember Dale for his unwavering love and support, a sentiment echoed by his nieces and nephews, Brittany, Meredith, Nathan, Eric, and Jill. Preceded in death by his mother, Darlene, Dale's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a man of great intelligence, as noted by Traci, who fondly recalls evenings spent watching "Jeopardy!" together, admiring the breadth of his knowledge. To celebrate Dale's life, a service will be held on June 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Oates family home, located at 4510 Peaceful Glen Road, Vacaville. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the remarkable life of a man who brought joy and compassion to all he met. Dale Alan Oates will be remembered for his kindness, his zest for life, and the deep love he had for his family and community. His legacy is one of warmth and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
