With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our cherished loved one who left this world peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on July 26 1969, in St. Louis, Missouri. Dad was a beacon of strength and love, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Throughout his journey, he showed remarkable grace and unwavering strength, serving as an inspiration to all who were fortunate to witness his courageous spirit. He was the beloved son of the late Melvin and Mary Johnson, who instilled in him the values of kindness, integrity, and perseverance that he carried throughout his life. Dad was also predeceased by his dear siblings, Laurie Jane and Lamont Owen's, whose memories he cherished deeply. A devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ella Johnson, Dad's marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and deep affection. As a father, Dad was a guiding light to his beloved children Alexsis, Carolyn, and Melvin Johnson III. Nurturing them with unconditional love and wisdom. His pride in them was boundless, and his legacy will continue to thrive through their lives. Dad's family extended beyond his immediate circle, as he was a cherished brother-in-law to Darrly Hopkins, Sherry Lynn, Braya Kelly, and Kenny Terry. His love and generosity knew no bounds, and he was always there to lend support and encouragement to his extended family. He was the proud grandfather of three beautiful grandchildren, who brought immense joy and happiness into his life. His legacy of love will continue to live on through them, as they carry forward his values and spirit. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dad's remarkable life on May 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at the Prince of Peace Church, located at 9350 Natural Bridge Rd. This service will be a time to honor his life, share stories, and find comfort in the memories that he has left behind. Dad's departure leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be a source of comfort and strength. As we say goodbye to a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, we celebrate the incredible life he led and the indelible mark he has left on all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Dad, until we meet again.

Only a Memory Away

So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear all of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say, "Welcome Home."
