February 15, 1938 — April 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Dad, who departed this life peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on February 15, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, Dad was the cherished son of the late Herbert Milton Moore, Sr. and Birdie Mae Folds Moore. Dad’s journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family. On September 20, 1958, he married the love of his life, Faye Pettite Moore, and together they shared an extraordinary 67 years of marriage. Their enduring bond was a testament to their shared strength and devotion, as they weathered life's storms, including battles with cancer and surgeries, always emerging stronger together. A proud graduate of Hapeville High School in 1956, Dad embarked on a fulfilling career with Southern Airways shortly thereafter. His tenure as a Charter agent spanned many years, continuing with Republic Airlines until the job relocated to Minneapolis. In search of new opportunities, Dad joined Tensar Corporation in Morrow, where he dedicated over a decade of service before retiring in 2000. Dad possessed a remarkable talent for fixing anything around the house. His hands were never idle, whether he was mending something or crafting beautiful wooden shelves that adorned the homes they lived in. His creativity and skill left a lasting mark on the environments he so lovingly tended to. Though a man of few words, Dad's wisdom and kindness spoke volumes. His love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren, was immeasurable, and he cherished the moments spent in their company. His legacy of love and warmth will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Dad is predeceased by his parents, Herbert Moore, Sr. and Birdie Mae Moore; his beloved daughter, Sherri Loraine Moore; and his sisters, Gwendolyn Hutcheson and Renee Miller. He leaves behind a devoted family to carry on his memory: his loving wife, Faye Pettite Moore; his children, Pam Ivy, Donna Brantley (Gary), and Tracy Moore; his treasured grandchildren, Brian Ivy, Justin Brantley (Alyssa), Jeremy Brantley, Elliott Moore, and Emma Stinchcomb; his sisters, Martina Frost and Cynthia McKee; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. A service to celebrate Dad's life will be held on May 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Dahlonega Funeral Home, located at 20 Gibson Road, Dahlonega, GA. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and to honor the indelible impact he made on all who knew him. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Pruitt Health and The Oaks Scenic View in Baldwin, GA, for their compassionate care and support during Dad’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you cherish the memories you hold of Dad, and in his spirit, extend kindness and love to those around you. His legacy will forever be a beacon of strength, love, and grace.
