It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Vester Eugene Mitchell, who departed this life on June 3, 2026, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on November 18, 1956, in Illinois, Vester was a beacon of light and warmth to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Vester was predeceased by his cherished parents, Violet Rosetta Mitchell and his father, as well as his dear siblings, brother Joe Mitchell and sister Sharon Donahue. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Barbara Mitchell, who stood by his side through every season of life. Together, they celebrated a beautiful marriage, having tied the knot on June 5, 1976, in Hindsville. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, marked by unwavering support, mutual respect, and boundless joy. Vester was a proud father to two wonderful children: his son Michael, married to Christina Mitchell, and his daughter Kerry, married to Justin Hayes. He adored his granddaughters, Amelya and Ada Hayes, who brought immense happiness and laughter into his life. An avid outdoorsman, Vester's passions were as vast as the skies he loved to gaze upon. He found serenity on the waters while fishing for crappie, walleye, and bass, and cherished the thrill of hunting, whether it be for deer, squirrels, or turkeys. His green thumb was evident in his flourishing vegetable garden, from which he generously shared bountiful harvests with family and friends. Vester's craftsmanship in woodworking was unparalleled, as he could turn a block of wood into a masterpiece with skill and precision. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Vester had an innate ability to lighten any room with his humor and infectious laughter. His commitment to excellence shone through in every endeavor he undertook, and his attention to detail was meticulous. Vester valued the company of his close-knit circle of friends and was a pillar of confidence and strength to all who sought his counsel. Vester's life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity, a man who relished the outdoors, stayed active, and found peace in the quiet moments. His legacy will be carried on by his loving family and friends, and his memory will forever be etched in their hearts. A service to honor and celebrate Vester's life will be held on June 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sonora Baptist Church, located at 17330 E US Highway 412, Springdale, AR 72764. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Washington Regional Hospice and Washington Regional Home Health for their compassionate care and support.
