In Loving Memory of Edward "Dad" Connor III
On June 6, 2026, the world lost a remarkable man, Edward "Dad" Connor III, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his cherished loved ones. Born on February 14, 1942, in Fort Benning, Georgia, Edward's life was a testament to adventure, love, and dedication. He was the beloved son of Edward and Ann Connor II, both of whom predeceased him, along with his dear siblings Marcia, Elsa, and Bill.
Edward's journey through life was marked by a steadfast commitment to education and personal growth. He graduated from Santa Rosa High School in California in 1959 and furthered his studies at the University of California at Berkeley, earning his degree in 1965. His academic pursuits laid the foundation for a distinguished career as a Civil Engineer. Eventually, his passion led him to the world of golf course architecture and remodeling, where he founded and successfully ran "Golforms," leaving a lasting legacy in the field.
For 40 wonderful years, Edward shared his life with his devoted wife, Pamela. Together, they built a beautiful family, blessed with six loving children: Debbie, Julia, Maureen, Scott, Susan, and Katie. His legacy extends through 21 adoring grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring love and wisdom he imparted.
Edward was a man of many passions, an avid adventurer who embraced the great outdoors with unparalleled enthusiasm. A skilled mountaineer, he summited formidable peaks, including McKinley, Anapurna II, Half Dome, Aconcagua, Shasta, and Rainier. Even after an accident curtailed his climbing pursuits, he continued to explore nature through hiking and backpacking. He was also a celebrated participant in the Senior Olympics Rowing Division, earning numerous medals, and enjoyed many rounds of golf.
A man of strong convictions, Edward was deeply involved in the Republican Party, both locally and nationally, and cherished engaging in political discourse, often sharing his views with notable figures like Rubio and Trump. Additionally, he was an active board member of Halifax Hospital and a dedicated member of the Halifax Rowing Club.
Edward's life was enriched by his love for magic tricks, which he delighted in sharing with friends and family, bringing joy and wonder wherever he went. His adventurous spirit and zest for life were matched only by his profound personal transformation, as he found solace and purpose in his faith, embracing a new life in the Kingdom of Jesus.
A service to honor and celebrate Edward's extraordinary life will be held on June 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Lohman's Funeral Home, located at 733 W Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL. The family invites all who knew and loved Edward to join in commemorating his life and legacy.
In the words of his family, "Edward loved and embraced many activities in life but nothing more meaningful than meeting Jesus and embracing a new life in His Kingdom! And has this wish for all."
