Cynthia Joyce Gardner

Cynthia Gardner, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, was born on April 5, 1953, in the vibrant city of Brooklyn, New York however, she spent the majority of her adult years in Wiggins, MS where she assumed the role of caregiver for her mother and grandmother. She peacefully passed away on August 28, 2026, at Baltimore Harbor Hospital, after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer. Throughout her illness, she remained under the compassionate care of her dedicated oncologist. Cynthia was the cherished eldest daughter of the late Jamesena and Herman Gardner. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and generosity, which she shared abundantly with her family and those around her. She leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss her presence, including her devoted daughters, Natasha Peabody and Yvonne Gardner; her oldest brother Ronald Gardner and his wife Wilder Jean; her caring sister Cheryl Keith and her husband Gordon; and her beautiful youngest sister Marguerite Betsill. Cynthia's legacy continues through her beloved grandchild, Noelle, who was a source of immense joy and pride for her. Professionally, Cynthia held various roles throughout her career, culminating in a position that allowed her to care for others, a calling she cherished deeply. Unfortunately, an injury led her to retire earlier than planned, yet she often reminisced about the special patients she had the privilege to care for. Cynthia was a woman of remarkable warmth and vivacity. In her younger years, she found immense joy in cooking, particularly southern cuisine, a passion that brought people together and filled hearts as well as stomachs. Her love for cooking never waned, as evidenced by her frequent requests for fried pork chops during her hospital stays. Additionally, she had a fondness for game shows, with "Jeopardy!" holding a special place in her heart. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. For those who wish to honor Cynthia's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, a reflection of Cynthia's own generous spirit and her belief in supporting causes that make a difference. Cynthia's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and laughter. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us of the power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived.
