With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Cynthia Aljean West, who left this world peacefully on May 26, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 11, 1938, in vibrant Miami, Florida, Cynthia was the beloved daughter of Al and Irene Hall. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith. Cynthia's journey was marked by her dedication to family, community, and her Lord. She was a proud graduate of Landon High School, Class of 1956, where she excelled as the president of the Future Nurses Club and shone in Homemaking courses. Her passion for nurturing others naturally led her to a career as a Nurse's Aid at W.E. Cherry Elementary, where her gentle spirit and kind heart touched the lives of countless children and colleagues. Her devotion extended beyond her professional life and into the heart of her community. Cynthia was a pillar of strength and grace within the Baptist Church, where she dedicated her life to service. Whether singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, or commemorating the milestones of those she held dear, Cynthia's faith was the cornerstone of her life's work. Cynthia's love for life was evident in her many hobbies. She found joy in singing, swimming, and gardening, and she cherished every moment spent shopping and creating memories with her family and friends. Her laughter and warmth will be missed but never forgotten. Cynthia was predeceased by her loving husband, Billy West; her beloved son, Dale West; her cherished grandson, Andrew West; and her dear sister, Earline Outman Norton. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her devoted daughter, Julie West; her brother, Ron Hall, and his wife, Sue; her sister, Debbie Ash, and her husband, David; her adoring grandchildren, Billy Thornton, Allison Sluys, Lynzey Thornton, Robin Catbagan, and Westley Thornton; and seven great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. Her sister-in-law and dearest friend, Pat West, will also hold Cynthia's memory close to her heart. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Cynthia's remarkable life on May 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Arlington Park Cemetery and Funeral Home, located at 6920 Lone Star Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32211.
