Curtiss Webster

Curtiss, born on July 26, 1960, in Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on September 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. He faced his illness with the same humor and bravery that characterized his life, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love that will be cherished by all who knew him. Curtiss was the beloved son of Elizabeth Webster and Alcena Dawson. He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Elizabeth, and his brother, Robert Webster. He is survived by his loving siblings Laecretia, Janice, Geraldine, and Roger, and his cherished companion, Charlotte Rose, who stood by him through thick and thin. Known as the comedian of the family, Curtiss had an uncanny ability to bring joy to any room. His quick wit and humorous outlook on life were infectious, often turning the most somber situations into moments of laughter and light. His sense of humor was not only a source of entertainment but a gift that he generously shared, teaching those around him to appreciate the lighter side of life. As a young man, Curtiss was full of life and energy. His adventurous spirit and acrobatic skills were legendary among his family and friends. He had a unique approach to teaching, famously instructing his nephew and younger cousins to swim by simply tossing them into the pool with the encouragement to "Swim!, kick your feet and paddle with your hands!" His lessons extended beyond swimming; he taught Terrence, JJ, Junior, and others how to perform acrobatic stunts, including backward and forward flips. Curtiss's extraordinary ability to walk on his hands for half a mile or to perform daring feats like hitting a target from 40 feet away with a soda pop bottle will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to witness them. Though he leaves no grandchildren or great-grandchildren, Curtiss's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and the generations he inspired with his vivacious spirit and unique personality. His absence is deeply felt, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles and laughter for years to come. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Alive Hospice and Indigent Burial Services for the compassionate care they provided Curtiss during his final days. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Curtiss's memory to organizations supporting heart health or to a charity of your choice.
