Curtis Chereek, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, in the CVICU at Huntsville Hospital in Alabama. Born on August 1, 1952, in Huntsville, Alabama, Curtis was a vibrant soul whose presence brightened the lives of everyone he encountered.
Curtis was the cherished son of the late Benjamin and Kathryn Chereek, who instilled in him the values of hard work and kindness. He is also predeceased by his beloved nephew, William C. Deen Jr. Curtis leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by his devoted sisters, Sandra Chereek Fallon and Margaret Chereek Simone, ( James Jones )
He was the proud father to Misty Siniard,( Doug Siniard ), Curtis Chereek Jr., and Charles Chereek, and a loving stepfather to Joshua Northcutt,( Blair Northcutt ) His joy in life was further enriched by his grandchildren, Bailey Siniard, Logan Siniard, and Elaine Northcutt, as well as his niece, Angela Hess who adored her Uncle Curtis.
Professionally, after serving In the U.S Navy ,Curtis dedicated many years of his life as a painter for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) before retiring from a fulfilling career with the Redstone Arsenal Fire Department. His dedication to his profession and his colleagues was evident to all who worked with him, and his contributions will be remembered and appreciated for years to come.
Curtis had a zest for life that was infectious. In his earlier days he enjoyed riding Harley-Davidsons alone and with friends.He was an active member of the Miata Club of Huntsville, Alabama, where he enjoyed countless day trips and extended journeys in his beloved Miata. His good friend Bruce was often by his side on these adventures. Curtis also found great joy in fishing, a pastime he shared with his brother-in-law, James Jones. These moments of leisure were the source of many cherished memories and stories that will be fondly remembered by those who joined him.
In honor of Curtis's life, a Celebration of Life service will be announced later. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Huntsville Hospital for their excellent care and kindness during Curtis's final days. The compassion they showed to Curtis and his family will never be forgotten.
To honor Curtis's memory, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
As we bid farewell to Curtis, we hold onto the love he gave us and the memories we shared. His spirit will forever be a guiding light in our hearts, reminding us to live fully and love deeply, just as he did.
