Born on December 23, 1964, in Chicago, Curtis was the beloved son of Deacon Johnnie L. Harris and Sis Mary H. Harris of Gloster, Mississippi. Curtis was a man of profound influence and empathy, attributes that he carried into his career and personal life. After graduating from Amite County High School, Curtis dedicated ten years of his life to the noble profession of teaching. Known as a disciplinarian yet caring teacher, he was deeply committed to nurturing the minds and spirits of his students. Curtis believed that education was not just a career but a calling, and he answered it with unwavering dedication. A devoted family man, Curtis is survived by his cherished children: Curtis Dickens and his wife Elizabeth, Timothy J. Harris, and Shenika Harris. His legacy continues through his six adored grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Curtis is also survived by his loving siblings, Gregory Harris and his wife Jeanette, Janet Harris, and Michael Harris. He is predeceased by his father, Johnnie L. Harris, and his brother, Michael A. Harris, both of whom he held dear to his heart. Curtis lived a life rich in community involvement, particularly as an active member of the K-Mart Group. Despite facing health challenges that limited his physical activity, Curtis found solace and passion in speaking and writing. These pursuits allowed him to connect with others, share his story, and inspire those around him. Curtis had an extraordinary gift of never meeting a stranger. His open heart and warm spirit welcomed everyone, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where family gatherings were filled with stories, warmth, and the sound of his infectious laughter. As we celebrate the remarkable life of Curtis Grant Harris, we remember a man of integrity, compassion, and unyielding love for his family and community.
