Curtis Buchanan Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 17, 1959, in Itta Bena, Mississippi, Curtis was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout his life. Curtis was the cherished son of Louise Buchanan and Curtis Starks Sr., who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his devoted wife, Cora Buchanan, with whom he shared a loving life after their marriage in a civil ceremony in Chicago, Illinois. A proud graduate of Crane High School, Curtis was a man of integrity who valued education and hard work. He instilled these values in his children and grandchildren, whom he adored. Curtis was a devoted father, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength for his family. Curtis was blessed with a large and loving family, including ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. His family was his pride and joy, and he took great pleasure in supporting and celebrating their achievements. Throughout his life, Curtis was known for his generous spirit and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His friendships were deep and lasting, and he was always ready with a kind word or helping hand for anyone in need. Curtis’s warm smile and compassionate nature touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love and kindness that will be fondly remembered.
