In Loving Memory

Crystal Dawn Reaume
August 8, 1974 — January 12, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Crystal Dawn Reaume, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on January 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by love, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on April 8, 1974, in Pueblo, Colorado, Crystal's journey through life was marked by grace, resilience, and an unwavering spirit.
Crystal was the cherished daughter of Karen and John Gawrys, who nurtured her with love and instilled in her a thirst for knowledge and compassion. She was predeceased by her sister, Cheryl Aytes, and their bond remains a cherished memory for the family.
A proud graduate of Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas, Crystal excelled academically, graduating in the top 2% of her class. Her intellectual curiosity and commitment to helping others led her to complete nurse training as a Physical Therapist Assistant, where she graduated with honors. Her dedication to her profession was driven by a desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of those she served.
Crystal's life took a brave and transformative turn when she joined the United States Air Force in February 1996. During her four years of service, she specialized in Non-destructive Inspection, primarily maintaining the Air Force Stealth Fighter. Her exemplary service earned her numerous commendations, including ribbons for Outstanding Unit and two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, along with an Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Crystal's time in the Air Force was a testament to her patriotism, skill, and dedication.
Above all, Crystal was a devoted mother. Her sons, Ryan Sheppa and Zachary Sheppa, were the center of her universe. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through them. Though she had no grandchildren, her nurturing spirit extended to all who knew her.
Crystal was a woman of many passions, including a deep love for animals, particularly her beloved cat Lily, who remained her constant companion. She found solace in solitude, often getting lost in the pages of her extensive hardcover book collection. Despite facing numerous physical challenges, some stemming from her military service, Crystal's resilience shone through, inspiring all who had the privilege to know her.
Crystal's life will be honored and celebrated in a memorial service on May 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched will gather to remember the remarkable woman she was, cherishing the memories she leaves behind.
In remembering Crystal, we celebrate a life lived with courage, intelligence, and an enduring love for those she held dear. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love will reside in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, dear Crystal. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew you.
